David Fincher once directed a series of advertisements for an AT&T marketing campaign entitled “You Will.”
That commercial came out in 1993, the year I was born. For frame of reference, a 1993 HP Omnibook “laptop” (which was cutting edge at the time) looked like this:
To the people of 1993, AT&T’s “You Will” commercial probably seemed fantastical and far off. Yet here we are today, only 20 years later.
Technology is advancing at an astronomical rate. New computer software is written, new hardware tested, and new ideas conceived.
Our current technology will soon be obsolete. Within the next 20 years, I predict that we’ll have hundreds of new inventions that change our lives in ways that you and I cannot even begin to imagine. You probably don’t agree with my theory now, most people don’t. But don’t worry, in the not too distant future… you will.
