“It has become almost a cliché to remark that nobody boasts of ignorance of literature, but it is socially acceptable to boast ignorance of science and proudly claim incompetence in mathematics.”
– Richard Dawkins
I suck at math. Without a calculator, I’d never be able to do anything numerical. It’s embarrassing. It probably sounds silly, but I’ve always secretly envied people who were good at mathematics. I think it’s cool to mentally calculate things, and know how to solve for “x” in some problem involving two cars headed in intersecting directions.
I also want to use my new found free time to learn more. I have a couple dense books that I want to get through, and I’d like to learn more about various philosophies. Also, I bought an old paperback on the Russian language. I think it’d be neat to learn the Cyrillic alphabet.
Lastly, I’d like to finish up some book material I’ve been plodding away at. November is actually National Novel Writing Month, but I’d be content with putting out a bunch of blog posts a and a short work about Fiverr.
I think it’s going to be a fun month.
