“Even if you are not interested in making a lot of money really really fast, what you are about to read will change your life forever.”
– Bond Boron
Some time ago I mentioned reading a really helpful book titled The Boron Letters. Despite really liking the book, I never provided a whole ton of information on it.
During a 10 hour plane ride this week, I re-visited the book and picked up some new insights.
Even if you have no intention of ever reading the book, you can learn a lot from today’s post. Additionally, anyone who wants to get straight to the book’s money-making advice should scroll down to the third lesson:
1. Keep at your goals until you master them.
“Everyone wants to climb the mountain, but the big difference between those at the top and those still on the bottom is simply a matter of showing up tomorrow to give it just one more shot.”
2. Kick losers out of your social circle.
“Your respect for others means a lot more when you have enough self-esteem to never respect those who don’t respect you.”
3. Give the people what they want.
“A guy with a new product cannot always find a hot market for that product but a guy with a hot market can always find a product to fill the needs of that market.”
4. Don’t get fancy.
“Use simple common everyday words. Use ‘get’ instead of ‘procure.’ Write short sentences and short paragraphs. Use ‘transition’ words and phrases to make your writing flow smoothly.”
5. Format ads in a pleasing manner.
“The Layout Of Your
Advertisement Should
Catch The Attention Of
Your Reader… But…
Not In A Way That Causes
Him To ‘Notice’ The Layout!“
I liked the book a lot and would recommend it to anyone who wants to write better advertisements. Whether you’re a freelance writer, blogger, or businessman this book will have something to teach you.
