“Good artists copy, great artists steal.”

Don’t know what to fill your fancy new site with? Feel free to “borrow” one of the many ideas I’ve listed bellow.
- Exercise: Everyone loves a success story, why not write about how you lost weight by biking to work everyday, or lifted six days a week in to make the football team. Even if you aren’t ripped, you can still post about your journey towards a better physique.
- Read: Read a book a week, or a poem a day, or one play a fortnight. It doesn’t matter the schedule, just go read. Did you like the work, hate it, learn something from it? Write a review and post it to your site.
- Create: Go draw something, take a picture, carve some wood, throw paint off a roof and onto a canvas. Whatever you make, someone will want to see.
- Learn: While almost all of the other ideas listed involve some form of learning, a knowledge based website would be especially ideal for students. As a student, you probably learn at least one new thing a week (lulz) worth blogging about. Post about discovering that Abraham Lincoln was the first president to rock a beard, or how you invented an easy way to memorize calculus formulas, or that you learned not to go binge drinking the night before your big final. If you are no longer a student, you could still easily blog about learning a new skill, or mastering an existing one.
- Bond: If you like spending time with family and friends, you should write about it. No matter how the time is spent, it’s being spent well and worthy telling others about. If you don’t think anyone would be interested in hearing about you and your social circle’s “mundane” activities, just remember this: a man wrote about watching movies with his son, and the story was translated into 24 languages.
- Play: Start a blog about playing your favorite game, be it: Halo, Chess, Scrabble, Mario, Ping Pong, Checkers, Tennis, etc… If you think that others have already examined and documented your game to death, then find a new angle to write about. Despite my love of Chess, I’m no Bobby Fisher. If I were going to write about the game, I’d post about the time when I was homeless (for all of one week) and would go to the local coffee shop to play Chess with a good friend.
- Imagine: I’ll let you figure this one out.
- Eat: You have to eat anyway, why not write about it. Whether you’re cooking your own food, eating at five-star restaurants, or arm wrestling a hobo for his can of baked beans; you’re meal has a story. Write about it.
- Connect: Read a cool blog post? Write about it and link back to the original post. What’s cool about doing something like this is the fact that your site can cover a wide array of topics, from health to the conflict in Syria, without alienating it’s fan base. An additional bonus of running this type of site is that other bloggers will eventually start sending you material to critique and help publicize.
- Share: Everyone has something they want to share with the world, be it drunken hijinks or an incredible struggle for freedom and equality. While you probably aren’t Nelson Mandela and (hopefully) aren’t Tucker Max, you probably still have a personal story worth sharing with the world. Even if you’re the world’s most boring shut in, you’ve probably had more interesting and unique experiences than you realize. Dig around your mind, extract those moments, and share them.
- Listen: I love music. In the time I wrote this post, I’ve listened to: Brisa Roché, Zerosospiro, Gucci Mane, and BADBADNOTGOOD. Music is about life: it’s about pain, angst, joy, love, hate, sorrow, self, environment, history, and balling out in the club. Choose something to listen to and share your opinion on it with the world.
Now that I’ve supplied you with some ideas, go forth and steal!
