“When I was young I thought that money was the most important thing in life; now that I am old I know that it is.”
– Oscar Wilde
At the beginning of the month I set a financial goal for myself. I fell short. Despite this I still consider my challenge to be a success. Here’s why:
I made more money per job
When I started on oDesk I was doing jobs for dirt cheap. 1,000 articles for $5 and 500 blog posts for $1.50 weren’t uncommon. Now I have a few clients that are paying great money for content. Last week I made a little over $100 in an afternoon off of two transcripts. It’s a pretty nice upgrade.
I decided to stop taking any drugs or supplements
This doesn’t directly relate to my last challenge, but it did affect it. I set a goal for myself to go one year without taking anything, including caffeine. For the first two weeks I was really lethargic and couldn’t get as much done. Now everything has balanced out and I’m fully productive again.
I made more money off of passive income
Last month I made more off of affiliate marketing than I did during all of 2013. While it still took some work, it was a lot easier than hammering out articles.
While I didn’t hit my exact goal, I did do alright for myself. Additionally, I laid the foundations for making a lot more money as the year marches forward.
